Landing Winter Redfish in the Lowcountry Backwaters
Edisto Beach - Colleton, SC
Despite recent temperatures dropping the water into the low 40s, the bite remains active for those who know where to look. In our latest outing around Edisto Beach, SC, we successfully located schools of Redfish holding in the deeper pockets of the salt marshes. When the water turns cold, these fish tend to congregate in large numbers, and with a patient approach and the right presentation, we were able to pick several out of the school. Winter fishing in the Lowcountry offers unique opportunities for sight-fishing in crystal-clear water, providing a rewarding challenge for anglers willing to brave the chill.
As we move through the season, we are seeing consistent patterns that bide well for the coming months. While the winter bite is currently the focus, our Spring and Summer dates are already filling up quickly. As the water warms, we expect an increase in activity from a wider variety of species, making it the perfect time to plan your future outing. Whether you want to target these cold-weather schools or secure a spot for the peak summer season, now is the time to get on the calendar.
