If you're looking for some serious inshore action without burning a whole day, Captain Parker Wall's got you covered with this top-rated half-day charter out of Edisto Beach. This 4-hour private trip takes up to three anglers aboard his 18-foot flats boat, perfect for sneaking into those skinny water spots where the big reds and drums like to hang out. You'll be fishing the maze of tidal creeks and salt marshes around Edisto Island, some of South Carolina's most productive inshore waters. Parker provides all the gear, live bait, and local know-how you need – just bring yourself and get ready to bend some rods.
This charter runs smooth from start to finish. Captain Parker meets you bright and early, and within minutes you're cruising through the backcountry waterways of Edisto Island. The 18-foot flats boat is perfectly suited for this type of fishing – it draws just enough water to get you into those tight spots where other boats can't go, but it's stable enough to fish comfortably. Parker's been working these waters for years, so he knows exactly where to find fish based on the tide, weather, and season. You'll be sight fishing in some spots, working structure in others, and maybe even poling through some really shallow stuff if the conditions are right. The beauty of inshore fishing here is the variety – one minute you're casting to a school of reds cruising a grass flat, the next you're dropping baits around dock pilings for some hefty black drum.
Parker keeps things simple but effective with his approach to Edisto's inshore fishery. You'll be using mostly live and cut bait – shrimp, mud minnows, and whatever else is working that day. The tackle is all high-quality spinning gear that can handle anything from schoolie reds to bull drums pushing 40 pounds. Depending on where you're fishing, you might be sight casting to cruising fish, bottom fishing around structure, or working the grass flats with popping corks. Parker's constantly adjusting tactics based on what's happening – if the fish aren't biting in one spot, you're moving. If they want bait presented a certain way, he's switching up the rigs. The shallow water here means you're often fishing in just a few feet of water, so stealth and boat positioning matter big time. That's where Parker's experience really shows – he knows how to work the tides and put you in the right spots at the right times.
"Captain Parker was an energetic, knowledgeable guide who made our fishing trip memorable. Despite challenging windy conditions inshore, he adapted quickly, moving us to fish structure up the creeks. We had an amazing time catching Redfish, Drum, and even a big Sheepshead. Parker kept us fishing efficiently, rebaiting and rerigging as needed. The 18' flat-bottom boat was ideal for the conditions, allowing us to get right up on the structure. He cleaned our keepers and even provided a machine for ice. We're already planning to book a full-day trip with him next year when we return!" - Erik
"Parker is the man! We were never the type to pay for or go on a fishing charter, and I was initially against it. But I was completely wrong—going out with Parker that day was one of the best decisions we've ever made. He took extra care with my older son, ensuring he hooked the biggest and best fish. Within just 5 or 10 minutes, we felt like we had known Parker for 20 years. He made us feel right at home and kept us on fish the whole time. He's an excellent guide and captain, and I would highly recommend him to anyone—both locals and visitors to the area. My family and I will definitely be back. We had an amazing time and made memories that will last a lifetime. Thanks, Parker, you're the best!" - Austin
"I've fished all along the East Coast, and Dock-Lines was by far the best experience I've ever had. After catching over 40 fish, the captain was actually apologetic, saying the bite is usually even better. Don't miss out on this trip!" - Jared
Redfish are the bread and butter of Edisto's inshore scene, and for good reason. These copper-colored bruisers are here year-round, though fall and spring offer the best action when they school up in big numbers. Reds in these waters typically run anywhere from 18 inches up to 30-plus-inch bulls that'll test your drag system. What makes them so fun is how they feed – you'll see them tailing in shallow water, cruising the grass flats, or ambushing bait around structure. They fight hard and dirty, using their broad sides to pull drag and make long runs. The slot-sized fish make excellent table fare, while the big bulls are catch-and-release only, but they're the ones that'll give you the fight of your life.
Black drum might not win any beauty contests, but they're some of the strongest fish swimming in these creeks. These bottom-dwellers love hanging around oyster beds, dock pilings, and creek bends where they can root around for crabs and shellfish. You'll typically find them in 3-8 feet of water, and they range from schoolie-sized fish up to monsters pushing 50 pounds. When a big drum takes your bait, there's no mistaking it – they just start pulling and don't stop. They're not the fastest fish, but they use their weight and that broad body to wear you down. The smaller ones are great eating, and the big ones are a blast to catch and release.
Sheepshead are the trickiest fish you'll target on this trip, but landing one is always satisfying.

My fiancé and I booked a 4-hour morning trip with Parker, having never done anything like this before, and we had an amazing time. Parker is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and makes everything seem effortless. He took care of everything for us with ease. As someone who gets motion sick easily, the calm inshore waters were no issue at all. Cruising around in the early morning was peaceful and relaxing. Parker knows the area like the back of his hand, and we caught several fish. It was definitely the highlight of our trip to Edisto, and we’d recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area.

Parker did an outstanding job and will be my go-to guide for all my future trips to Edisto. He knows the waters inside and out and got us on plenty of fish. My wife and I landed two doubles within the first 15 minutes, and we never really slowed down. If we did, Parker would move us to a new spot. We had a great time getting to know Parker, and I’d highly recommend him to anyone looking for a fantastic fishing experience.

Black Drum are the heavyweights of our inshore waters, ranging from 5-30 pounds with some monsters pushing 90. These gray-black bruisers love our oyster bars and muddy flats where they crush shellfish with powerful jaws. Spring is prime time when they school up for spawning - that's when you'll hear their distinctive drumming sounds underwater. They're strong fighters that'll test your drag, but keep the smaller ones under 15 pounds for the table since the big girls get tough and stringy. My tip: use fresh blue crab on a Carolina rig and keep it right on the bottom near those oyster beds. The bite feels like a slow, heavy pull rather than a sharp strike.

Redfish are the stars of our shallow water fishing, with that copper-bronze color and signature black spot near the tail. Most slot fish run 18-27 inches, but you might tangle with a bull pushing 30-plus pounds in deeper water. They love our spartina grass edges, oyster bars, and creek mouths in just 1-4 feet of water. Fall and spring are peak seasons when they're actively feeding and easier to spot. What guests love most is watching them cruise the flats with their backs out of the water and that explosive strike when they take your bait. They fight hard with long runs and great table fare too. My advice: look for nervous water and baitfish activity, then cast ahead of cruising fish with a gold spoon or live shrimp under a popping cork.

Speckled Trout are some of our most reliable fish here in the Edisto shallows, typically running 14-24 inches and 1-5 pounds. These spotted beauties love our grass flats and drop-offs, especially around moving water where baitfish gather. They're most active during cooler parts of the day and really turn on when the water temps drop in fall and winter. What makes them special is their willingness to hit topwater lures and their delicate, sweet meat that's perfect on the dinner table. Just don't overcook them or they'll get mushy. My go-to technique is a popping cork with live shrimp, but they'll also crush soft plastics worked slowly along the grass edges. Listen for them "popping" bait on the surface - that's your cue to cast.

Sheepshead are the "convict fish" with their black and white stripes, but don't let their looks fool you - they're some of the tastiest eating around these creeks. Most run 1-8 pounds and they're notorious bait thieves with those human-like teeth. You'll find them hugging any structure - dock pilings, bridge supports, oyster bars. They love feeding on barnacles and small crabs, especially during cooler months when they're more active. The white, flaky meat is worth the effort, but they're tricky to hook since they nibble rather than strike hard. Pro tip: pin your bait tight to the hook and fish as close to structure as possible - sometimes just inches away. When you feel that telltale pecking, set the hook fast and firm.
